Details

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) is Data
Warehouse Database Administrator to work with State IT and contract
staff to develop the SACWIS data warehouse model for the new SACWIS
Reporting System and to ensure that the operational SACWIS database
has the needed functionality necessary to support all reporting and
analysis data to be extracted as needed.

In addition, the Data Warehouse Database Administrator will also help
in supporting or enhancing other DHS Data Warehouse models and
processes that are critical to the Department of Human Services.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE:

The key objective of this role is the primary Data Warehouse Database
Administrator supporting the DHS data warehouse. Also, to assist the
State and contract staff in the development and implementation of the
SACWIS data warehouse database model. Ensuring that all of the
anticipated reporting needs of the new SACWIC system are fully
supported and that all reasonable analytics can be efficiently
obtained.

Also, the project may include continuing to build upon and enhance the
extensive DHS data warehouse to help support the increasing demands
for more sophisticated reporting. As DHS looks to use its wealth of
client information, the DHS data warehouse gives the department a
viable option to reduce costs and avoid Federal sanctions.

SCOPE OF WORK:

• The Data Warehouse Database Administrator will work with State,
contract staff, and the Operational SACWIS system contractor to ensure
that the operational system database will support the process needs of
the SACWIS Data Warehouse and the functionality needed to extract the
needed data on a regular basis.
• Work with State and contract staff to efficiently design the SACWIS
Data Warehouse database process to work optimally while support the
reporting and analytic needs of DHS.
• As the operational SACWIS project continues, the Data Warehouse
Database Administrator will work with State, contract staff, and the
operational SACWIS contractor staff to make the needed changes in
responding to the evolution of the operational SACWIS system.
• Work closely with State and contract staff to ensure that they are
fully aware of the decisions and impacts involved in the DHS Data
Warehouse database designs and are able to support and extend them by
the end of the contract.
• The Data Warehouse Database Administrator will oversee all security
issues dealing with the DHS data warehouse databases.

TASKS:

Technical support is required to assist with the following tasks:

• A Data Warehouse Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the
availability, safety and usefulness of the DHS data warehouse
databases. This may include tasks such as:
• Software Installation and database management system upgrades.
• Software upgrades to ensure the database is in compliance with
critical security patches, or, software upgrades deemed necessary by
the State.
• Working in conjunction with system administrators, server
configuration to ensure that the entire database system is capable of
providing the services needed.
• Performance monitoring to identify bottlenecks and places where
throughput can be improved.
• Security administration to ensure that the database cannot be
accessed by unauthorized parties or damaged by anyone.
• Configure access to the data warehouse and communication between the
warehouse and other servers.
• Physical database design translates the logical database design to
work optimally for the specific database environment.
• Working with DHS data warehouse developers to establish standards
and guidelines for access to DHS data warehouse databases.
• Backup and Restore management to ensure that no data is lost and
that backups can be restored in a timely manner.
• Work with DHS data warehouse developers and DHS clients to optimize
their queries.
