Client :Wal-Mart – face to face is needed after telephonic

Position : Network Engineer with 8 yrs. or more with matching skills

Location : Brisbane, CA

Duration : 6 months

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Support (80%)

Provide 24/7 on-call systems operational support on a rotation basis for the technical environment and associated transit networks.

Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve LAN/WAN problems

Cisco switch and router maintenance

Create monitors to alert on network exceptions

When on-call, monitor the network for sufficient capacity and performance

Effectively follow change management guidelines for all the changes made to the production systems.

Project/Tasks Work (20%)

Implement projects resulting from Capacity and Failure Point Analysis

Design and deploy mission critical network and security systems with multiple network media types, protocols and configurations

Work with software development and database team to identify the system requirements for application deployment

Document changes in overall platform and design

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Competencies: Skills, knowledge, & abilities

           

Functional Competencies:

Cisco LAN/WAN Switching experience required

Dynamic Routing experience required

Able to articulate advanced technical topics (e.g. process scheduling, disk and file system I/O, kernel internals, TCP/IP communications at all levels)

Advanced knowledge of Ecommerce networking, including security and redundancy

Develop and improve monitoring utilizing existing tools and scripts

Monitors performance of network and servers to identify potential problems and bottlenecks

Diagnoses and resolves LAN/WAN problems

Hands-on experience with hardware installation, upgrade, and maintenance of layer 2/3 devices

Participates in planning, designing, installing and configuring local and wide area networks

Ability to work on multiple projects and reprioritize as needed

Ability to stay on project or hand-off schedule and manage own time accurately and effectively

Skills with network management tools

Ability to articulate advanced technical topics (e.g. tcp protocol analysis)

Ability to work in high-pressured but highly structured, customer oriented environment

Play active role on crisis situations

 

Experience:

4+ years Network Administration experience.

Expert knowledge in Networking and Security fundamentals

Ability to document project designs.

Ability to create details network diagrams

History of progressively complex project management experience

 

Minimum educational level:

B.S. in computer science or equivalent experience

Bachelors in any of the engineering disciplines or Technical certification in systems management and administration.

CCNP or equivalent
