Position Summary:

 

DB2 DBA will be involved in the development, maintenance and support of the client's database environment, throughout software development life cycle. The DBA will participate in the design and implementation of logical and physical database objects for pharmacy applications and their respective data marts and data-warehouses.   The DBA will also provide guidance to developers on their data access, and data mapping needs, Will work with systems administration on hardware and operating system level requirements in support of the deployed database software, and will propose ways to improve physical database and SQL performance.  The DBA will also be instrumental in creating and maintain our physical/logical data models and the creation of a data dictionary for client reporting.

 

The DB2 DBA will be responsible for the installation/installation assistance and configurations of the database environments supporting both production and development environments.  Potential candidates should have proven experience in data modeling, reporting and highly available system design. This position will interface with IBM and resolve any issues via the PMR process.  The candidate should have proven skills in creating domain specific models for production environments, ETL processing for de-normalizing data and a full understanding of what is needed to optimize all database environments.  The candidate should have solid data analysis skills, excellent communication skills and a proven ability to learn and use tools to quickly assess the health and operations of the database environments.

 

Minimum Requirements

               

B.S. in Computer Science or related field.

3 - 5 + yrs. Proven experience in DB2 UDB (modeling, supporting, trouble-shooting).

Proficiency in data modeling, reporting, data layout and design.

Business Objects skills a plus.

Proficient in designing and running DB2 in a highly available environment.

Good technical, consultative, analytical, communication and problem solving skills.

Project management experiences a plus.
