The .NET person needs to be very proficient in writing ASP.NET pages and Web Forms, as well as consuming web services written by another team in a language other than .NET. He/she will be tasked with creating a web form to be placed on our internet site to collect health information, validate the form using web services, and then save the data to the back end systems via web services.
Please note that the developer selected here will not be making Web Parts. We are planning to use ordinary ASP.NET coding techniques, but deploying them in the SharePoint environment…so while SharePoint is still very much in the picture, for this project it is not the big deal it has been in the past.
Required expert-level skills: C#, ASP.NET, CSS (advanced), Visual Studio 2010, SVN, consuming SOAP-based web services, IIS, Web Forms, Web UI design principles, nAnt, multi-browser compatibility, ability to work with pre-existing code.
Nice-to-have skills: SharePoint 2007 (aka MOSS), Continuous Integration (e.g., Hudson), Design Patterns (DAO, DTO, Façade, Bridge, Singleton), SpecFlow.
Things that might seem helpful but really aren't: ADO.NET, Enterprise Library, WinForms or other Desktop development, VB.NET
